Busy weekend

May 24, 2006

I’ve got a busy weekend planned. It’s lucky that it’s a bank holiday on Monday so that I can get some time to recover in peace.

Friday is a works doo at Jongleurs comedy for all, free drink, and free grub… Pretty cool. Then after that I’m gonna have to hook up with my mate John (see below) as he’s heading back to Australia. He’s been living there for a year and is over for a couple of weeks holiday, but he’ll be heading down to Leeds to see some of his buddies from Yorkshire. He’s been sorely missed for the last year and it’s gonna be horrible saying goodbye to him again, not that I’ll let him know that.

Saturday is a mate from works stag doo… starting roughly at 1400hrs at the cinema for X-Men3, then food, and (obviously) hunners of booze.

I’ll have to cut that one short though as I’ve got tickets to go and see Down at Glasgow’s ABC

I’ll be half dead after that but still have to got to Glasgow’s Soundhaus to see my old mate Neil play a live techno set and get up to some mad shenanigans with all my mates.

Then Sunday I’m finally about to get a chance to catch up with Rhiannon, my fiancé. We’re gonna grab a bite to eat somewhere and then go and see Dylan Moran at Glasgow’s Playhouse Theatre. More comedy! Yay!

I think I’ll die of exhaustion on Monday. At least I’ll die happy.

Death of Rhubarb Rock!!!!

May 23, 2006

For months the header of my blog has been the colours of rhubarb rock! I can't tell you how much that stuff reminds me of being young…

But I'm fed up with the colour scheme… I'm changing it to something else now…

Beneficence, Determinism and Justice: An Engagement with the Argument for the Genetic Selection of Intelligence

Eh?

My mate Kean wrote something about this… I found it on the web here which is nice.

I found this too…

UNISON to defend the growth of public sector

HAMISH MACDONELL SCOTTISH POLITICAL EDITOR

UNISON, Scotland's main public sector union, will hit back today at reports that Scotland's reliance on the public sector was harming economic potential.

The union is publishing a report which will claim that Scotland's big public sector was a driver of economic growth and not an inhibitor.
Clearly stung by a series of recent reports showing how Scotland is relying more and more on the public sector, with one in four workers employed by the state, UNISON has decided to take the argument to its critics.

Matt Smith, UNISON's Scottish Secretary, said: "UNISON has long been clear that the public sector is an important driver of the Scottish economy, rather than the drain that the CBI and the Chair of Scottish Enterprise claim, and no evidence has ever been advanced to back up their case.

"UNISON therefore commissioned independent research to investigate the evidence.

"It found that not only was there little or no evidence to back the 'crowding-out' theory, but on the contrary the public sector had a key role to play in promoting many aspects of economic growth."

The research was carried out by Dr Andy Cumbers and Kean Birch of the Centre for Public Policy for Regions, a joint research initiative of Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities.

He's quite obviously a geek of the highest level!

Fatman

May 23, 2006

My mate Tom is the fattest guy in the god damn world…

American's don't have a patch on him. It's like, you know the fattest guy you know, and the second fattest, and the third fattest and so on till it's every single fat person you know. And all the babies you've ever seen. And one of those butter mountains ye hear about.

Well… Imagine someone who's eaten all of them and you'd be close to comprehending just how fat Tom Osman is!

Man he fat!

Here’s my mate John

Ugly Bastard

It’s been 8 days since my last post, ‘cos I’m lazy!

May 18, 2006

I thought I'd publish some of my songs/poem… pretentious or what!?!

This first one is about murderous thoughts, revenge, hopeless pleadings to a god, love, deceit, guilt and evidence.

It's called…

Hammer In The River

The silent things we each enjoy,

Things that raise our soul,

Secret pleasure, absolute,

Things no one else know,

And she says “He was for my escape that night,

And while you wait for me,

Blow out the candle,

Inhale the smoke”

I regret the memory.

And I knew what I saw,

And I thought I’d seen it all

But now I know

Help me Lord

I should have done this long before.

Almighty turn a blind eye

The same way that I did

I lost myself

The violence

My pain I tried to rid

A shallow bed to rest her head

A conscience left ignored

Red handed she lied to my face

More than my honour could afford

And I know what I’ve done

And I thought I’d done it all

But now I know

Help me Lord

I should have done this

Long

Before
