Language Fun

Using the translate function on Google's language tools has lead to some hi-jinks today!

I was trying to translate  "How are the plans for the stag party coming along? are you heading off to foreign parts?" from English to French.

I used the English to German option by mistake. The question was already in English (just explaining in case we have any American [i.e. slow] viewers) 

It came up with "How acres the of plan for the steam turbine and gas turbine system party coming along?  acres you heading off ton foreign parts?" 

Mental! 

“Oh well, bibble.”

Right… ok… this was a weird moment. I was at a party and was standing outside the toilet waiting for whoever was in there to finish their business; I'm the only one there, just waiting. Out of a room comes a lad I know called Mathew (name changed to protect the guy, but not yer average type of bloke), he's a bit of a weirdo. The kind of guy you wouldn't be surprised to find out that he's a serial killer. Quiet little letch a boy. He ambles over in his weirdo gait and asks me "Is his the queue for the toilet?"

"Err,"

Queue? It’s just me standing there, does that signify a queue?

"Err, Yea" I resolve and say. 

"Oh well, bibble." he says and saunters off again.

The Mighty Boosh

Has everyone seen it?

I've got the first series on DVD and have never seen it before. It comes mate recommended. I've just watched the first episode "Killeroo" and it's a trip.

Can't wait to see the rest. Just waiting on the missus getting out the shower and then it'll be time to get on the couch and veg it all day.

Movie Review

I went to see Inside Man last night. Quite an excellent heist film all in all, Spike Lee has never been a favorite director of mine but he excelled here. Denzel was at the top of his game, Clive Owen masked and marvellous and Jodie Foster is weird and sterling. 

My favorite touch (and there were loads) was close to the end of the movie, Denzel's character is giving a report to his boss on the outcome of the robbery and he has a wee coughing fit, says sorry and carries on giving his report. It's a cool touch, he's been working hard all day, there's been dispersed tear gas and smoke involved, he's been interviewing suspects for hours and hours, so his throat is dry and he has to catch his breath. Not often do you get realistic mannerisms like this on the silver screen. 

Then I went for a few brews with my old mate Martin Banks to The Bastille Tavern. All in all a good Saturday afternoon.

Holy Shit

I was gonna try and keep you up to date with the party on Thursday, but I drank Absinthe.
